Saxo Bank

Europe, Asia and the Middle East. An app key and secret from developer.saxo, then a sign-in from Settings. The desk keeps the session alive while it runs, and the book is priced by the bank.

Where the keys come from

At developer.saxo create an application on the live environment. Set its redirect address to this desk's Settings address, http://localhost:8765/settings, so the sign-in can land in the page by itself. Copy the app key and the app secret. Switch Simulation account on to point the same keys at Saxo's practice system.

On Settings

Pick Saxo Bank · Europe, Asia and the Middle East, paste the key and the secret, set Simulation if it applies, and click Save and connect. Leave Redirect address empty if the app uses the desk's Settings address; otherwise put it in exactly as registered. The desk saves the keys and then asks for the sign-in.

Click Open the broker login. Sign in on Saxo's page. When it finishes, the page jumps to your redirect address with code= in it; if that is the desk's Settings address, the desk connects on its own. Otherwise copy the value after code= (or the whole address) into the box and click Connect.

Saxo replaces the key every time it is used, so the desk saves the new one each time and makes a fresh twenty-minute pass from it while it runs. Leave the desk off for a day and "Saxo's key is spent" asks for the sign-in again.

What Desk · Home shows

The cash equity lines (shares, funds and exchange-traded products) with quantity, average cost and the price Saxo marks them at, so the book is priced from the bank. Cash from the balances read. Currency positions and contracts for difference are left out.

Live prices

The desk asks Saxo for prices on Watch · Home and the ticker page. What Saxo sends depends on the account's market data subscriptions. Saxo's own documentation says an API login starts at the OrdersOnly level, where prices for non-FX products are delayed, and the simulation system is always delayed. A delayed price from Saxo still counts as a price. If Saxo sends no prices for the account, the desk uses the free feed (Yahoo) for the rest of the session.

What it does not show

No futures, no margin bar, no options tape through this read. Nothing places an order.
