About

GreekSoup is a free, open-source equity research desk you run on your own computer. greeksoup.ai is its website, with the desk's docs and stock pages built every night from the filings of 500 US and 100 Indian companies.

Who makes it

GreekSoup is a Shikshan Nivesh product, made by an analyst for future SuperAnalysts. Shikshan Nivesh publishes investing research and teaches the research systems behind it; its own about page says who is behind it. The desk's code is open source under the MIT licence, on GitHub with a mirror on GitLab. The project page says what is free, and how to take part.

Where the figures come from

Every figure on a stock page is read from a public filing or an exchange's own record, and links to it, so the source of any number is one click away on the page itself. The record-keepers are the official ones: SEC EDGAR for US companies, funds, insiders and planned sales; the National Stock Exchange for Indian companies, shareholding, votes and insiders; FINRA for short interest; the Clerk of the US House for members' trades; CBOE for US prices and options; NSE for Indian prices and daily fund flows; FRED, the Federal Reserve and the Bureau of Labor Statistics for the macro series and their calendars. Nothing on the site is typed in by hand.

A program reads the filings every night, checks each statement against its own arithmetic, and rebuilds the pages. It can still misread a filing. A figure that looks wrong goes through A number looks wrong, and it is fixed at the source, for every page that reads it.

What the site is not

greeksoup.ai publishes data, not advice. Nothing on it is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security. The terms say this in full, and the privacy page says what the site knows about you, which is close to nothing.
