India. Your client id and an access token from web.dhan.co, free for Dhan's clients; or, with TOTP switched on, the PIN and authenticator secret so the desk makes its own token. Live prices come with Dhan's paid Data APIs.
Where the keys come from
On web.dhan.co open My Profile, then Access DhanHQ APIs, and generate an access token. Copy it with your client id. The token lasts 24 hours from the moment it is made.
To stop pasting a token each day, switch TOTP on for the account and give the desk your trading PIN and the authenticator secret instead: the letters behind the TOTP QR code. The six-digit code will not work here. The desk then makes its own token each time it connects.
Live prices need Dhan's Data APIs, a separate subscription at ₹499 a month plus taxes.
On Settings
Pick Dhan · India and fill the client id. Then either paste the access token, or leave it empty and fill Trading PIN and Authenticator secret. Click Save and connect. An expired token comes back as "Dhan did not accept this token", with a note to make a fresh one in My Profile.
What Desk · Home shows
Every holding with quantity and average cost, and cash from the fund limits read. Dhan prices holdings only for accounts on its data plan, so the desk marks every line from Yahoo and values the account live from that.
The desk asks Dhan for live prices on Watch · Home and the ticker page, with the buy and sell quotes. Dhan names each stock by the exchange's number for it, and the desk finds that number for each name by itself. Without the Data APIs subscription, Dhan answers that the user has not subscribed to Data APIs, and the desk uses the free feed (Yahoo) for the rest of the session.
The home ticker page shows the exchange's filings, and the results calendar for the home watchlist sits under Desk · Home.
What it does not show
No streaming ticks, no futures and options, no margin bar, no options tape: this file reads holdings, cash and prices. Those are optional additions a broker file can grow, and another broker describes the shape. Nothing places an order.
